How to create an HTML sitemap page for blogger site

HTML sitemap page is a page in a blog that contains links to posts you have published till date which makes navigation easy for blog-readers.
Secondly, having an HTML sitemap page in a blog increases chances of new published posts get indexed faster. Why? According to a research conducted by a group of SEO experts, we were made to understand that HTML sitemap page act exactly like the normal sitemap we submit to Google search console (GSC) or Bing webmaster because it contains urls.

So here in this article i will help you with the steps to create yours if you host your site on blogger. Blogger unlike WordPress have a lot of limitations, we can only add additional features through the use of HTML codes.

Steps to create HTML sitemap page in blogger

  • First and foremost you need to login to your blogger dashboard, on the dashboard click on "Pages"

  • Titled it "sitemap", click "compose" on the ribbon and switch to html version of the post.

  • Paste the codes you copied earlier in it and publish.


Side note: The sitemap page won't be visible after publishing, you need to make it visible on your blog by following the instructions below.

How to add HTML sitemap page to blog

  • From the dashboard click on "pages", view the new published sitemap page, by clicking on the eye icon next to it.

  • Another page will appears before you now copy the link.

  • Press the back button once, click on "layout" from your blogger dashboard, add page widget to any place you want the sitemap page to appears and paste the link you copied earlier in there.

  • Save and visit your blog.
